The Penguin’s out for revenge. Batman sparred with him a few issues ago when Tony Daniel took us into the mystery behind Bruce’s new girlfriend. However, this time around that’s not the case because the Penguin has hired men known as the Ghost Dragons. They are aiming to take Bruce Wayne down but Bruce Wayne is nowhere to be seen.
Batman is able to take one of them down, and he begins to wonder whether or not this more targeted towards Wayne than Batman. Wayne is opening up the Martha Wayne Children’s Center after having donated a generous sum of money to the Gotham City Orthodontic Association. Bruce then decides to leave his Batman persona for now to attend the gala for the opening of the Children’s Center. However, he was not able to rid the scene of all Ghost Dragons as one targets him on the spot…….
John Layman starts off the narrative with an interesting start. He has Bruce Wayne being targeted, and he really sets up his arc quite nicely with this prologue leading to bigger things to come.
Jason Fabok does an incredible job, and he really deserves it. A rising star at DC Comics for a while now, he is finally getting his shot at an ongoing book, and his premiere doesn’t disappoint with his pencils and inks just looking amazing. I am expecting big things from this guy.
With these two at the helm, I am pretty certain Detective Comics is in good strides……
