Recommended Viewing – wrestling: Free Wrestling is Fun iPPV!

This weekend Smartmark Video’s Video on Demand service tries its first foray into high bandwidth streaming AND live streaming.

What does this mean? Lots of free action to test the limits of their systems.

First up on Friday night (alas, scheduled directly against Mockingbird Lane), they will present Chikara matches from the Road to Ruin Fest earlier this year:

• Mr. Touchdown versus Chikara original Dragonfly
• Chuck Taylor versus Saturyne
• The Colony (the real one) versus Ophidian & Los Ice Creams

Then on Saturday night, free internet pay-per-view streams live from the same site as Wrestling is Fun presents a complete show streaming. And once again WiF shows itself to be a second great promotion for the Chikara fans out there!

The card:

• Fire Ant & Green Ant vs. Obariyon & Kodama
• UltraMantis Black vs. STIGMA
• Saturyne vs. An opponent to be named
• Jaka vs. Gran Akuma
• Dasher Hatfield vs. assailANT
• Grizzly Redwood vs. Oleg the Usurper
• Mike Quackenbush vs. “Mr. Touchdown” Mark Angelosetti

All those Chikara favorites (and a few newcomers) come live from SMVOD this Saturday. So even if you can’t catch wrestling in your neck of the woods, no wrestling fan should miss out on some great action!

“Why are they doing this?” you ask. “What fool gives away a free internet PPV?”

Huh, it sure looks like Chikara’s season finale is coming up and everyone knows the issues with Go Fight Live. It almost seems like somebody might actually be trying to guarantee a good streaming iPPV experience before they go live with their first show. (And yes, that was a dig at ROH.) Should this show go off without a hitch, expect announcement of  the “Under the Hood” iPPV in the near future.
