Kickstarter: super-RPGs and 80s comic revivals not related to Disney Channel films

While it does not have the best intro video, Invulnerable is a new version of an already solid if lesser known role playing game. The Vigilante Edition will be the final cut of the product with a lot of new material and with a buy in point of only $15 is a very solid release for role playing game publishers. Give it a look.

When Elaine Lee and Michael Wm. Kaluta revived Starstruck a few years ago, it was with promise that new material would be in the works. Now that time has come as Harry Palmer: Starstruck: “Old Proldiers Never Die”. Great writing, amazing art, what more can you ask for in a comic book?

And the book definitely is not a Disney Channel show.

Cool Stuff: I’m a Super-Villain!

So I have backed a lot of Kickstarters. For many I am just on the look out for the DVD, game or comic, but a few end up coming with some cool features either at the regular “Get a Copy” rate or that I spend a bit more to receive.

I interviewed Spectrum Games’ Cynthia Celeste Miller, Norbert Franz and Barak Blackburn on the last episode of SuperPowerCast Season One and was immediately taken by the coolness of their spinoff book for Capes, Cowls and Villains Foul. Gallery of Evil is one of my favorite kind of books to get from any game or comic line, a sourcebook filled with new and different characters.

I was blown away by what sounded like a fun project and immediately lent it my financial support. I bought in for the PDF edition and in the process, I also got my name used in the book. I have learned much about myself as well.

It seems that contrary to even my own opinion, I am actually Australian and a professional baseball player with a deadly fastball. Here, you can check out the details yourself in my devilish bio:

It is good to learn so much about myself. I will have to remember to say “I’m gonna knock ya block off champ” a lot more however.

Kickstart the Week: Vampires and other worlds

It has been too long since my last Kickstarter update, so here we are off and running with two great new projects.

I will agree with anyone that says vampires have been done to death, but even as I say that, I would still support Dracula: Son of the Dragon. The reason is simple: the creative team of Mark Sable and Salgood Sam. Sable has produced some amazing genre comics in his career. Salgood Sam is one of the most innovative artists you may not have heard of. Together, they seem ready to really challenge the digital comics spectrum with their new project.

I am a huge fan of open world building games. I also enjoy monster fighting and action adventure. And hey, it is always cool to have an RPG development system too. The folks at Pathea have basically crossed all my favorite genres in to one big game. It is Minecraft meets Monster Hunter meets Starcraft… and it looks damn cool, even as an alpha. Planet Explorers has tons of potential but clearly does not have the name recognition it needs yet, so go check it out.
